The heart of SPHINXHEAD is a vision formed by Greg Kis, Sean Flynn, and Ed Komorowski.

Greg and Sean met in a law school classroom. Greg was writing torch songs to an old girlfriend. Sean had played with a Southern rock band. At the same time, Greg worked with Ed on songs for their Jersey band TOURNIQUET. Ed had played drums and bass throughout the East Coast with a number of bands, including POINT BLANK, MORTALITY and OZ.
